Friendship Skills

In our Friendship Skills groups, students will participate in fun and motivating activities to develop appropriate social skills to enhance interpersonal relationships.  Whether it is making and maintaining friends, following routines and demonstrating flexibility at school or developing language to express needs and wants appropriately at home, our group will address the specific social needs of participants. 

 The groups will focus on concepts including, but not limited to:

  • Social skills awareness
  • Personal social problem solving
  • Mindfulness / coping strategies
  • Working together as a team
  • Friendship skills

Students will also practice strategies to demonstrate expected behavior throughout various settings including school, home and public places.  There will be sessions offered on Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings.  This group meets 8 times for 50 minutes and has 2-4 students per group.

-2019 SUMMER GROUPS-

In our Friendship Skills groups, students will participate in fun and motivating activities to develop appropriate social skills to enhance interpersonal relationships.  Whether it is making and maintaining friends, following routines and demonstrating flexibility at school or developing language to express needs and wants appropriately at home, our group will address the specific social needs of participants.

Students will also practice strategies to demonstrate expected behavior throughout various settings including school, home and public places.  

The groups meets 2x/week (either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday) between July 8 and August 8 for a total of of 10 sessions.  Each session is 50 minutes long with approximately 2-5 students.  Since many students travel and attend various activities, we fully understand that students may miss some classes.  This is considered in the curriculum and the rates.
