The Learning Community offers two types of services:  Small Group Instruction and Individual Instruction/tutoring.   We have many different types of Small Groups described below.

This group is offered in the summer for students entering 5th grade and will build a students’ confidence before entering the new school year.  This group will review previous skills to maintain what has been learned in the school year prior and also prepare students with the fundamentals for a successful start to 5th grade.

Friendship Skills

In our Friendship Skills groups, students will participate in fun and motivating activities to develop appropriate social skills to enhance interpersonal relationships.

Handwriting Instruction-Fine Motor

Students will be practicing handwriting skills and strengthening their fine motor muscles.  The children will learn letter formation, line placement, sizing and spacing.

Hooray for Pre-K Kamp

Pre-K students will have a blast exploring beginning academic concepts, while developing skills in socialization, motor control and phonemic awareness.   The focus of this group will be to keep the rising Pre-K student interacting with peers over the summer in a semi-structured, FUN setting!

This group is designed to help students practice and strengthen their Literacy skills in a fun, social atmosphere.   Students will practice reading fluency, comprehension and written responses while also reviewing proper structure of a sentence and a paragraph.

Making Words

Students will participate in fun, hands-on, standards based activities to help bridge the gap from sound identification to reading and writing simple words.

Meaningful Math

Students will work to strengthen their math skills in a small group.  The group will focus on various math topics such as fact fluency, word problems, geometry, fractions, time, money and much more.

Summer Practice Groups

These groups are designed to keep your child learning throughout the summer so they avoid the “summer slide”.    Students will review concepts from the previous school year and be introduced to new concepts for the upcoming school year.  Students will have optional homework after each session.

Tutoring/One-to-One

Individual Instruction sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each child.  TLC teachers will use assessments, implement research based instructional strategies and collaborate with parents and classroom teachers, when possible.
